SR Residence Counselor - Kelb

POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Residence Counselor will provide oversight to staff working within a 6 person or less Individualized Residential Alternative (IRA) facility. The Senior Residence Counselor is responsible for oversight of daily shift operations, ensuring accomplishment of program-wide goals, coordination of the scheduling of staff, completion of all records and reports, facilitating on-site orientation and training, and monitoring and providing supervisory oversight of the overall operations of the program. The Senior Residence Counselor will participate in Center activities under the supervision of the Program Manager. This position provides high quality supportive services to ensure that a safe, healthy and welcoming living environment is provided for residents.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Activities include but are not limited to the following:
Monitor the safety and well being of the individuals and report issues as necessary.
Ensure the accomplishment of individuals' goals and behavior plans; ensure that documentation is completed contemporaneously.
Maintain the timely completion of all records and reports as directed by the Program Manager.
Assist the Program Manager with the daily shift operations of the residence.
Ensure effective communication of daily work info and expectations
Notify the Program Manager of any issues or concerns related to ste staffing schedules and coverage.
Communicate daily shift issues and/or conflicts to the Program Manager or site leadership.
Provide coaching and counseling of Resident Counselors and Day Habilitation Staff to enhance individual and team performance.
Work collaboratively with the Program manager and provide input into annual evaluations for Resident Counselors.
Arrange and assist with on-site orientation and training activities for new employees and existing staff.
Serve as a Role Model for program staff, attend to personal, self-care and other program needs that the individuals cannot independently accomplish.
Monitor operation and condition of the building and supplies; ensure building security.
Participate in activities as part of the treatment team such as; meetings, trainings, and committees.
Develop and maintain an effective communication network with the individuals, program staff, families, community agencies, and other Center departments.
Establish a work environment that creates positive communication between supervisors and employees and assimilates new employees to the Center's culture, values and mission.
Ensure compliance with all pertinent government and Center regulations and operating standards.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS/ QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma; AAS Degree in Human Services or related field.
Minimum one (1) years' experience in a direct support role with individuals with a Developmental Disability.
Valid New York State driver's license.
Knowledge of basic computer programs (Including all Windows programs, Adobe Acrobat, Outlook, Internet Browser, Access, Word and Excel) HRIS systems applications preferred.
This position has regular and substantial unsupervised and unrestricted physical contact with individuals receiving services and is required by law to be fingerprinted for a criminal history record check under OPWDD (Office for People with Developmental Disabilities).
Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances are warranted.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/HAZARDS
Job related tasks involve exposure to blood, body fluids, tissue or the potential for skin or mucous membrane contact from spills or splashes of these substances.
May have exposure to unpredictable individuals and situations when working at Kelberman Center sites.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear and must have fluency in the English language.
The employee frequently is required to stand, sit and walk and must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
Employee will work with individuals with disabilities and may be exposed to verbal and physical aggression.
Employee must have the ability to lift 60lbs. Must have the ability to bend, lift and squat.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
